LUKEWARM TAKES FROM MILAN SANREMO

LUKEWARM TAKES FROM MILAN SANREMO

All right, so what happened there then?

Here’s my lukewarm takes:

I would prefer Julian Alaphilippe to not crash so much (though I did enjoy watching him chase back on.)

The Po valley is terrifyingly dry.

Baroque is still an aberration, unless it’s in Sicily.

Eolo Kometa are caught between being taken really seriously and being not taken seriously. The next years will tell us all.

I’m worried for Mark Cavendish’s chances, but I know, I know….

The Passo del Turchino needs to be flipped round.

What are DSM all about?

What are AG2R all about?

The Ligurian coast is overdeveloped.

Filippo Ganna was in fact the surprise, stand out performance.

Fred Wright led the peloton onto the Poggio. Can’t imagine what that must have felt like.

This was always the toughest Monument for Pog to win, and I am quite reassured that he did his best and yet failed.

Sanremo is a lovely place, especially the bit you don’t see on the telly.

Tadej Pogačar will never win the MSR. He’ll win all the others. But not this one.

And finally, sadly, I am not sure women’s MSR is going to happen any time soon.
